We promote digital rights

WHO WE ARE

The Centre for Digital Rights is a not-for-profit that aims to promote public awareness of digital rights issues related to the data-driven economy. It works to build capacity within communities to support broader engagement on issues of digital rights. It also seeks to raise policymakers’ understanding of advanced technology and its impact on civic values and individual rights. The organization was founded by Canadian businessman and philanthropist Jim Balsillie.

OUR GOALS

  1. Advancing the public’s understanding of their rights;
  2. Raising policymakers’ understanding of advanced technology, its economic and non-economic effects; and
  3. Promoting best practices, laws and regulations that protect both the civic values and the rights of individuals in the 21st century economy driven by the mass collection, use, control and disclosure of data.
