Canada’s Privacy Regulation

IN AN ATTEMPT TO MODERNIZE 20-YEAR-OLD PRIVATE-SECTOR PRIVACY LAW, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF CANADA HAS CREATED THE DIGITAL CHARTER IMPLEMENTATION ACT 2022. THE ACT NOT ONLY NORMALIZES AND EXPANDS SURVEILANCE IT TREATS CITIZEN PRIVACY AS AN OBSTACLE TO CORPORATE PROFITS.

 

The Centre for Digital Rights has serious concerns about Canada’s Digital Charter Implementation Act 2022 and has prepared a detailed list of amendments needed to protect citizens and consumers in an economy driven by surveillance technologies.
